Over the past several years, we have been honored to welcome many visitors to The Davissa Horse Refuge through tours, community visits, Harvest Hosts, and other special opportunities. We are deeply grateful for the kindness, support, and encouragement so many have shown our horses and our mission.

As the refuge has grown, however, so too have the daily needs of the horses and the responsibilities involved in maintaining a peaceful, sustainable environment for them. After much thoughtful consideration, we have made the decision to begin simplifying the overall activity level here at the ranch.

Moving forward, The Davissa Horse Refuge will no longer operate as a regularly accessible or “by appointment” visitor location. Our primary focus remains, as always, providing a quiet, low-stress, permanent home for our retired and rescued horses.

Rather than ongoing routine visits, we plan to offer a limited number of carefully planned open houses, community gatherings, and special events throughout the year. These occasions will allow us to continue sharing the refuge with others in a way that remains healthy and sustainable both for the horses and for the long-term rhythm of ranch life.

This decision comes from a place of stewardship, intentionality, and a desire to preserve the peaceful atmosphere that makes the refuge special not only for our visitors, but most importantly for the horses themselves.

We remain incredibly thankful for the support of our community and look forward to welcoming guests during future scheduled events and gatherings.
