THE DAVISSA STORY
The Davissa Ranch is home to The Davissa Horse Refuge, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to the lifelong care of retired and displaced working horses. We believe these animals, after years of service, deserve a peaceful and permanent home where they may live out their days with dignity.
Located just northwest of Cheyenne, Wyoming, the ranch traces its roots to an original homestead established more than a century ago. In March of 2020, David and Melissa Wilson purchased the property, continuing its legacy of stewardship. The name “Davissa” reflects their partnership a blending of David and Melissa and the shared commitment that shapes both their marriage and their work.
We believe this ranch was entrusted to us by God, for a purpose. Our faith is central to how we operate the refuge with discipline, gratitude, and a deep responsibility to care well for the land and the animals placed in our care. The peace that defines the Davissa is not accidental; it is cultivated intentionally through hard work, prayer, and respect for God’s creation.
The Davissa Horse Refuge exists as both a permanent home for its residents and an expression of that calling to steward faithfully, to serve quietly, and to protect the dignity of every horse entrusted to us.
